English Strong Bitter
Floor Malted Maris Otter, Light and Dark Egnlish Crystal Malts, Fuggles, East Kent Goldings
This English style Pale Ale (cka “Bitter”) features large amount of floor-malted Maris Otter accentuated by crystal malts to help balance a liberal use of Fuggels and Goldings hops. The advent of the use of coke as fuel and the invention of the drum kiln birthed this old style ale allowing the grain to be lighter in color, hence “pale”. You may not know that one of the most influential breweries to ever exist is also responsible for the first trademark due to their Pale Ale. In having been a contemporary to this milestone we pay hommage to Winston Churchill, who some would say fits this styles category like a glove. Cheers!
